Word Garden
Bilingual Learning Toy Design & Visual System
Word Garden is a bilingual, garden-themed language learning toy designed to introduce young learners to French and English vocabulary through play. The project consists of a set of illustrated building blocks paired with a matching card game, encouraging exploration, pattern recognition, and early language development. By combining tactile interaction with a warm, storybook-inspired visual system, Word Garden transforms vocabulary learning into a playful, approachable experience.
Design Approach
For Word Garden I approached the idea od language learning through tactile interaction and visual storytelling. A soft, cohesive illustration style and structured typographic hierarchy unify the blocks, card game, and packaging into a flexible product ecosystem. The greenhouse-inspired packaging reinforces the narrative of growth, positioning learning as exploratory and playful rather than instructional.
Packaging & Collateral
Rather than using a standard box, Word Garden is housed in a greenhouse-inspired package that reinforces the narrative of growth and learning. Cut-out details, illustrated foliage, and layered surfaces create a sense of discovery while visually connecting the packaging to the product inside. The structure serves both as protection and as an extension of the play experience.
